2023 TREND EVOLUTION

At High Point market last year, we discovered a new take on some classic interior design trends. Expect the continuation of textures and unique finds now jazzed up with unexpected new elements. Here’s a peek at a few of our current faves…

Newstalgia

Driven by new sensibilities around sustainability and the desire to bypass the notorious lengthy supply chain wait, designers and consumers alike have turned to nostalgic pre-owned options in antiques and resale vendors. This market revealing a deep pool of bespoke-feeling pieces that deliver heritage gravitas and the comfort of collected personalized character.

These style bending vintage pieces can be selected intentionally to blend in nostalgic flare, rather than an overall traditional uniform look. Think detailed dark wood, sweetly floral fabrics, gently worn metallic finishes, and story-telling blemishes.

Try it: Incorporate vintage furniture pieces with new accessories or linens. Find a favorite vintage lamp and style it next to a modern end table.

Elevated Textures

Texture, especially in unexpected applications, is back in a big way. This isn’t yesteryear’s wall paneling! Graphic patterns and limewash walls create rich visual order and drama to spaces and furnishings. These are reach-out-and-touch-it pieces in luxurious materials. Tactile experiences that are anything but flat contributing to deeply moody cozy rooms.

Look for ridged woodworking in clean arrangements, chunky textured fabrics, and touchable tile with ribbed graphic lines.

Try it: Panel a wall with a unique material - think beyond reclaimed wood into metals, textured wallpaper, metal mesh.

Natural Shapes

We continue to seek out the sense of grounding inherent in organic forms and rustic materials. These pieces mimic the nature’s intelligent designs, bringing the familiarity of the outside into our living spaces. They offer a sense of breath and relief from our ever-present screen life.

Look for soft, rounded shapes, warm materials, and whimsical animal-forms in accessories. Dressed down woods, soft stone profiles, caning, and fabrics bring calm and relaxation without fuss.
