We're Not For Everyone!

We're not for everyone and our initial Client Discovery Call is exactly the time to find out! When we receive a new inquiry, we're interviewing clients as much as they're interviewing us. Design can be a multi-year long process and we want to make sure we can be there in the way you need us. And guess what, if we're not a good fit, that's ok too! You'll find the right one for your style and goals. Considering a designer is an important step in a potentially years long project. What to look for in your initial discovery call! Consider your goals:

✔️ Price. Budget can certainly be prioritized, altered, and revised but it has start somewhere. Find a designer that can communicate your full investment from the beginning of the project so you can all work from the same expectations. Collecting quotes from all trades, receivers, and delivery crews up front helps us stay proactive and mitigate surprise costs to our clients.

✔️ Process. do you like a clear process or prefer to adjust on the fly? I love a process, that's what you'll get from us. Not everyone likes or wants to work this way. Find where your designer stands on their process from the outset so you don't find your project running in two opposite trajectories.

✔️ Communication. How is the initial connection, are you compatible with your communication styles? You might be surprised by how many potential clients look like great projects on paper but when we connect over the phone, we find ourselves talking past each other or unable to properly understand the other's needs. It's not something to ignore! Natural cadence and conversational patterns are actual points we note before taking on a new client.

✔️ Style. I know this seems like an obvious one but I'm often surprised by how many calls I receive from people who heard our name but never looked into our website or portfolio. Designers handle all variations of styles but we'll all have our signature throughline. The discovery call is the perfect time to check in on this.
